Today is a Saturday, which for me is a family day. This means little opportunity to work. So this image was vaguely inspired by the prompt for today (‘shy’), but I also just fancied drawing something big with something small. I was planning to do the entire image with brown drawing pen, but life got in the way. I sketched out the idea in pencil during my daughter’s recorder lesson then inked in most of it whilst waiting for my son at a friend’s birthday party. But then my pen (which was incidentally my favourite pen) ran out. I was in a soft play centre miles from any art shop and with too little time to leave and come back before the end of the party, so I decided to use ink to quickly paint in the rest of the shading I had planned once I arrived home. In the end, I rather like the effect.
